Unnamed Sub Tropical Storm (2005) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning archive
of the Unnamed Sub Tropical Storm.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

The unnamed sub tropical storm originated from an upper level low which formed near the
Canary Islands on September 28th. Convection fired near the low center on September 30th
and a surface trough formed due to this. The system then moved WNW into an unstable
air-mass, and more convection fired. This caused a surface circulation to form on October
3rd, and by the 4th a sub tropical depression had formed. The depression then turned
north eastwards due to an approaching cold front, and became a sub tropical storm on the
4th of October. The storm attained max winds of 50 mph, and moved through the Azores
on the 4th. The storm then got absorbed by a low along the approaching cold front on the
5th. This low happened to become hurricane Vince later on.
