Meteorological Analysis
|
Tropical depression 9 originated from a tropical wave which moved off the coast
of Africa on August 14th. The wave increased in shower activity as it
approached the Lesser Antilles, and it appeared to increase in organization once
in the Caribbean. A ship reported a west wind, which confirmed a surface low
and the wave was upgraded to TD 9 on August 21st. Shear soon began to
affect the depression though, and by August 22nd the depression became an
open wave as the surface circulation dissipated just south of Hispaniola.
