Tropical Depression 2 (1999) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning
archive of tropical depression 2.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

Tropical depression 2 originated from a tropical wave which moved off the
African coast on June 20th. The tropical wave entered the western Caribbean
on June 30th and gained vorticity at the mid levels. The wave then moved over
the Yucatan on July 1st and by the 2nd moved into the Bay of Campeche, a
surface low formed in association with the wave over the Bay of Campeche.
The surface low then organized and became a tropical depression on the 2nd,
near the Mexican coast. The depression then moved inland about 35 nm SSE
of Tuxpan, Mexico shortly after formation. The depression dissipated later that
day over Mexico.
