Tropical Depression 14 (2002) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning
archive of tropical depression 14.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

Tropical depression 14 originated from an early October Atlantic tropical wave.
The tropical wave moved into the Caribbean Sea on October 9th but, remained
disorganized. On October 12th the wave began to organize and a low pressure
formed along the wave. The wave began to move north due to a trough over
North America, and under favorable environmental conditions became a
tropical depression on October 14th about 120 nm NNE of Cape Gracias a Dios,
Honduras. The depression then accelerated to the NE as it came under more
influence from the trough, and shear increased over the depression. The
depression made landfall in Cienfuegos, Cuba on the 16th and was absorbed
by a cold front later that day.
