Tropical Depression 10 (2004) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning
archive of tropical depression 10.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

TD 10 originated from a tropical wave which moved off the coast of Africa on
August 29th. The wave had a disturbance along it which passed the Cape Verde
Islands on the 30th. The disturbance was steered west, northwest, north, and
finally northeast by the Azores high, without showing much more organization.
On September 7th, a low level circulation formed with convection near by, and
the disturbance was upgraded to tropical depression 10. Shear was pulling the
thunderstorms away from the center even at formation, and by the 9th the
depression degenerated into a remnant low from the constant shear. The
remnant low continued around the Azores high, heading southwards, and
dissipated 230 nm WSW of the Azores Islands on September 10th.

Casualty and Damage Overview
