Tropical Depression 10 (2005) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning
archive of tropical depression 10.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

Tropical depression 10 originated from a tropical wave which moved off the
African coast on August 8th. The wave began to show signs of development by
the 11th, and by the 13th a tropical depression had formed. The depression was
about 1000 nm from the Lesser Antilles. The depression was quickly destroyed
by southwesterly shear. The depression's remnants then continued across the
ocean and helped form one of the most fearsome storms of modern time, Katrina.
