Tropical Storm Henri (2003) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning
archive of tropical storm Henri.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

Henri originated from a tropical wave which left Africa on August 22nd. The wave reached
the eastern Gulf of Mexico on September 1st, and split. The northern part of the wave
became stationary. The wave steadily grew convection and a low level center formed. By
September 3rd this area had gained enough organization to be considered a tropical
depression, about 260 nm W of Tampa. The depression was embedded in a trough
which induced it to head slowly east. The depression continued to organize and by the 5th
it became tropical storm Henri. Henri reached its max winds of 60 mph later that day. Shear
then began to severely affect Henri shortly afterwards, and Henri weakened into a tropical
depression just before landfall in Central Florida on the 6th. Henri brought heavy rain of up
to 10 inches to Florida, and exited into the north Atlantic on the 7th. Strong vertical shear
continued to affect Henri and Henri degenerated on the 7th. The remnants of Henri affected
North Carolina on the 12th to 13th, and finally dissipated.
