Meteorological Analysis
|
Ernesto originated from a tropical wave which moved off the African coast on
August 28th. The wave moved WNW under the subtropical ridge and organized
into a tropical depression by September 1st. The new depression moved briskly
at up to 15 kt and was impacted by heavy shear. The depression managed to
become tropical storm Ernesto on the 2nd however. Shear then took its toll on
Ernesto and Ernesto degenerated into an open system on the 3rd, about 250 nm
north of the Leeward Islands. The remnants of Ernesto merged with a front a
few days later.
