Tropical Storm Ana (1997) Archive

This is the Hurricane Warning
archive of tropical storm Ana.
The best data available was used
to create this archive, in order to
make it as educational as possible.

Meteorological Analysis

Ana originated from a frontal low which was off of South Carolina in late June.
On the 30th the low gained enough organization to be considered a tropical
depression. Shear was fairly strong over the depression from an approaching
trough but, the depression managed to become tropical storm Ana on July
1st as it moved east. Ana reached its maximum intensity of 45 mph later on the
1st, and maintained that intensity until the 2nd. The approaching trough
caused shear to dramatically increase over Ana on the 2nd, and Ana
accelerated NE. Ana then weakened into a tropical depression on the 3rd, and
became extratropical on the 4th. Ana dissipated on the 5th under intense shear.
